Rami Wall

Unique pieces
Art Installation, Aramid, Gold plated wire, Aluminium, Barrisol Mirror, 2018

Rami Wall Incheon is part of the artist’s Rami series. Rami means “tree branch” in Latin and the
inspiration for the series derived from the artist’s long-term study of lightweight, structurally optimized forms found in nature, such as bird skulls, bee hives and tree branches, formed and tested through evolutionary processes. As part of the Rami series, the artist developed and utilized a string weaving design technique replicating the “form follows function” principle to generate the geometries of the design, hand weaving strings into a three-dimensional form. The resulting shape was not pre-set but allowed to be generated into its final form through the numerous interactions between the strings.
Rami Wall Incheon is created with ropes made out of aramid and specially designed for the SPC Lounge, Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport.
