Center table, GRP, W70cm x L125cm x H47cm, 2007
Fabric Table was inspired by marine plankton called Radiolaria that produce intricate mineral skeletons. Just as Radiolaria is formed, a fabric stretching design technique was used to generate the table and light’s geometries. To generate these organic forms, a single piece of fabric was stretched by hand into a three-dimensional form, which was then hardened into the design. The resulting shapes were not pre-set but allowed to generate into the final shapes, replicating building processes found in nature.
